You didn't start a business to move data between apps

Why Halter Home Labs exists, what we build, and why this blog gets a new post every Saturday.

  • automation
  • small-business

Nobody opens a bakery, a plumbing company or a law practice because they love copying names from a web form into a spreadsheet. Yet that is where a surprising amount of a small team's week goes: the lead that has to be re-typed into the CRM, the invoice that gets exported and re-imported, the same report assembled by hand every Monday morning.

It adds up. Not to a dramatic number on any one day, but to hours every week, spread so thin nobody notices until someone leaves and the whole routine has to be taught again.

What we build

Halter Home Labs is an engineering-first automation shop for small businesses. We build the connections between the tools you already use, so the work happens on its own:

  • n8n workflows that move data between your apps the moment something happens, with the error handling and retries that a quick script never has.
  • Practical AI integrations that do a specific job inside a workflow, with a person approving what goes out, rather than a chatbot bolted onto the side of your business.
  • Custom APIs and dashboards for the cases where off-the-shelf tools do not quite fit.

Everything we deliver is documented, monitored and built to keep running long after the handoff. That last part matters more than any feature. An automation that quietly stops working is worse than no automation at all, because now nobody is watching the thing it used to do.

What this blog is for

Every Saturday there is a new video on our YouTube channel, and the same story on Instagram, as a short clip or a picture slideshow. Some are quick demos of a real workflow running. Some are animated stories from a small mountain town, where a cast of small-business owners learn, one lesson at a time, how to run a shop well.

Each one gets a page here. The page is not the caption copied over; it is the same idea with room to breathe: what the video shows, why it matters for a small business, and what we would actually build.

If one of them describes your Monday, you can tell us about it. Every consultation ends with clear next steps, and if what you need is a process change rather than software, we will say so.

So: what is the one task you would love to never do again?
